SMOREs at Big Bend

Coming Attractions

Informational meeting for the October Big Bend trip at 10:00 am on August 17 in Room 230. Our trip to Big Bend this year will take place October 16 through 19, 2008. Questions? Can't make the meeting? Contact Lloyd Haskins at 512-689-0908 or lmhaskins@yahoo.com.

Big Bend is sooo big (and sooo far away) that we have to take four days for the trip. But it is well worth it as many, including me, will attest. And for the faint of heart and those that like to take showers, there are motel-type accommodations in the park, but you better reserve those quickly. In case you don't make cabin reservations in time, I already have the three prime group camp sites reserved (close to the bathrooms!), and we'd be glad to help you set up your tent.

Natural Bridge Caverns is located just off of FM-3009, which is somewhat halfway to San Antonio, and we'll definitely discuss directions before leaving. The tour we took at Natural Bridge Caverns is the North Cavern Tour, which is 75 minutes long, departs every 30 minutes, and costs $16.95 per person 12 and up, and $9.95 for kids 3-11.

We had a great time at Bright Leaf back in November.
