Sunday Morning

There is so much passion and knowledge in the youth I encounter in Sunday School that it gives me back more than I bring as well as great hope for the future.

Beginners is a place of welcome for our youngest in Sunday School. Children feel comfort and care through the consistent rituals and traditions of their own little community of believers. Children have a time for songs, an offering, a story, play time, prayer and craft.

Children: Ages 4 through 5th Grade

I like listening to the stories in Sunday School. And then we get some free time to do what we want. And I also like that we get to have a little bit of food together.

Children ages 4 through 5th Grade can choose from two Sunday morning opportunities, Life Together or Godly Play.

Life Together is based on the Sunday morning lessons and Gospel readings (lectionary) shared in churches around the world. Children explore what they have heard in "big church" through storytelling, music and crafts. All children are sent with ideas to carry the message with them and share throughout the week with friends and family.

Godly Play is an approach of faith formation and spiritual direction for children that is rooted in the liturgical practice of the Christian faith. It is both the child's journey of becoming aware of God's presence in their lives and the acquisition of religious language. Godly Play is supported by caring adults, stories told from the heart, a beautiful environment and sacred shared time. Godly Play is an international and ecumenical movement that is inspired by the Montessori method. The time is structured similarly to worship through gathering, hearing the word, response (for children this is through play), sharing a feast and sending out.
