St. Martin's Chapel Columbarium
Completing the Circle of Life
When we were baptized in Christ Jesus, we were baptized into his death. We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
A columbarium is a place for interment of cremated human remains. It usually consists of niches in a wall or in the ground within the church, providing a secure place for dignified repose of remains and a memorial to those who have gone before.

Does the Church Encourage Cremation?
The church expresses no preference between cremation and earth burial, although a growing number of people of all faiths are choosing cremation. Many Christian churches have their own columbarium within the sanctity of the church, wherein one celebrates Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion and Marriage.
Death and Burial complete the circle of earthly life. Appropriately, this final act may be solemnly commemorated in the church and one's remains may be placed in a columbarium.
